Kindergarten News
Week of January 20-23, 2015
Please be
on the look out for more information in regards to the 100 th day celebration
for Kindergarten. Mark your calendars for our big 100th day parade.
You are invited to come watch us parade around in our 100 day shirts and take
pictures. The
parade will be on
Tuesday,
Feb 3rd @ 8:15! We will
send out more information this Friday with details about the 100th day t shirt
project!
Theme:
Continue winter, snow, and cold weather
Reading: This week we will enjoy many winter stories. We will
continue to practice identifying the characters, setting, and problem. We will
retell using story arcs. We will also predict and make connections while
listening to stories.
Writing: The
children will continue to explore nonfiction books and what it takes to make
these types of books. We continue to develop their writing as they learn to
make letter/sound connections and develop their own ideas for writing.

Study: We
will review all of the word families we have learned so far. (at, an, ap,) and
our new word family is OP
Math: During math workshop, We are working on combining sets
to make numbers up to 6. Exploring different ways to break down the numbers.
We will use fact families to help with this concept. EX: 5 can be 1 and 4,
2 and 3 5 and 0
Science: Cold
Weather and how animals/people adapt! We will also explore
movement.
Social
Studies: continue with soil,
rocks and water
