RCE Alumni Parade

Today we got to watch former RCE students parade the school in their high school caps and gowns.  It was really neat to see how many came back to do this. The kids enjoyed it and what a great example for our kids to see.

Week of May 9-13, 2016

Please remember that Monday-Wednesday this week we have students taking the STARR test in upper grades.  To keep a quiet atmosphere, the office has requested no parent helpers on these days.  Please do not come each lunch with your child Monday- Wednesday, as well.  Thank you for understanding.

It is time to order school supplies for next year.  Go to www.schooltoolbox.com

Type in Rummel Creek Elementary

Choose your child’s grade for NEXT year!

Mark your calendar for May 16th and May 17th!  (THIS IS A CHANGE!) We need parent helpers to make the Kindergarten graduation caps.  If you would like to help, let your teacher know.  Come at 10:00 on those days.  It is easy and goes fast with a lot of helper hands.

May 19th, Kindergarten is going on a field trip to see a play at Memorial High School!  We are allowed to take 5 parents per class.  If you would like to join us as a chaperone, please let your teacher know.  If we have more than 5, we will draw names.  Siblings will not be able to join us that day.  This play begins at noon so it will be a middle of the day type trip. We will be leaving RCE around 11 and parents joining will need to meet us there.  Details will be forthcoming.

Guest Reader

Today we had such a treat!  Britta Merwin from KPRC Channel 2 came and read to Kindergarten. She did an egg in the bottle experiment and answered lots of questions.  She was amazing with the kids and lots of fun!! Check out her weather segment around 5:30 tomorrow morning and see if she mentions RCE.

DIgraphs

This week we are focusing on digraphs.  Yesterday we met CHarlie who likes choo choo trains and learned about CH words.  Today we met SHane who is very quiet and likes to say "Sh".  We worked in small groups to see how many SH words we could build.  Then we made a list of all the SH words we could think of.
