Problem Solving

In Math, I gave each child 14 paper squares and a sheet of grid paper.  They had to use the shapes to figure out what the mystery shape was...a rectangle or square.  It took them a bit of time to figure it out. I saw lots of good thinking going on.

1st one to figure it out!

2nd to figure it out!

Sneezy the Snowman

We read Sneezy the Snowman and learned about quotation marks, "ot" words and rhyming words.  We also talked about cause and effect while reading and did some interactive writing about what happened when Sneezy stood by the fire, or drank hot cocoa.  After reading, we all made a melted snowman and practiced writing with quotation marks.  They did really well on this.
