Week of February 13 - 17, 2017

We will be exploring coins over the next few weeks in math.  It would be great for each child to have a variety of coins to examine.  If possible, please send a Ziploc baggie with a variety of coins.  It doesn’t need to be a lot; for example, 7 pennies, 3 nickels, 3 dimes, and 2 quarters would be awesome!  If you are able to send coins, please write your child’s name on the baggie so it can be returned to you!

Our unit on plants will start soon.  In prep for that, each class will need some potting soil so we can get seeds planted and sprouting.  If you can send in a bag (not huge!) of soil, please let us know.  Thanks!

Monday, February 13th – Picture Day  We will take our class picture and individual spring pictures.  Order forms for the class picture and pose selection for individual pictures came home in folders last week.  You may also order online.

Tuesday, February 14th – Valentine’s Day  Please remember to send your child with their valentines on Tuesday.  We will help the children “mail” them that morning.  We hope to see you at our class party at 1:00 pm!

102 Days of Kindergarten

Friday in math we made fruit loop necklaces with 102 fruit loops.  We were too busy on the 100th day so we did it Friday.   The kids grouped by 10s and then added 2.  It was great counting practice and fine motor practice too.  Then of course they had a fun snack later.
