Week of August 29st-September 2nd

Please remember to check your child’s folder each night and remove papers daily.  It often contains important information, and it shows your child you value their work.
Each day please send a water bottle, healthy snack, towel, and blue binder.
Some children like to have a light sweater in their backpack.  The rooms can be chilly. Remember to send your child in closed toed, rubber soled shoes.  It’s best to send you child in the shoes they will need for health fitness and recess.  We have little time for changing shoes during our day!
Remember all transportation changes need to be in writing to your teacher by noon.
Please complete the PTA Big Form ASAP.  This is your way to order directories, join the PTA, and purchase a yearbook.  There will not be a paper form this year.  To access the Big Form, go to https://cwsclients.wufoo.com/forms/the-pta-big-form/
Another great page to bookmark is rcepta.com.  This is a great webpage to frequent.  It has a lot of useful information.  You can also sign up to receive weekly PTA newsletters from this page.

This week we will explore the following:

Theme: All About Me!

Reading:  Shared reading and Interactive read-alouds of books that focus on me, my family, and my classroom.  Our focus will be on making connections as we enjoy the text.

Word Wall Words:  Our friends’ names in the class, my, and is

Math: We will continue to lay the groundwork for Math workshop by setting up math routines. While we do this, we will explore sorting by various attributes.

Science: Being a scientist, making observations, and exploring our Five Senses

Homework: Read 20 minutes every night.
Optional Activities:

Our Names

Today we read A My Name is  and then we played a little game where we sat around the rug and told our name and something we liked that started with the same letter of our name.  We made a class book that had our name and something we liked and then we decorated our name with torn paper to decorate our classroom.
