Graduation Info

I can’t believe graduation is tomorrow!!  Such a fun, exciting, emotional day!! Here are a few things that will help you plan for tomorrow morning.

·         Where do I go and what time? Graduation begins at 9:00 am in the WAIS auditorium.  For those of you who have not been there, you will need to walk through the cafeteria and make a right in the hallway.  From there you will see how to enter.

·         Where should I sit in the auditorium to best see my child perform?  The children will be on the stage by class in the following order from the left to the right facing the stage;  Hanlen (far left), Mitchell, Rincon, Robbie, Timmreck (far right)

·         What should my child wear? Please have your child wear a Rummel Creek tshirt (any shirt will be fine) and a pair of shorts. PLEASE NO PONYTAILS tomorrow.  The children are wearing a hat, and it will not fit over the ponytail. Thanks!

·         Graduation agenda:

-          Children enter the stage at 9:00
-          We will perform a few songs
-          Children will exit the stage and teacher will say a few words
-          Children will accept diplomas from teacher and the principal
-          Students and family will meet back in the room for a small reception

·         When can I take pictures of my child? You will be able to grab some quick shots as your child performs, and walks across the stage, however after that we are asking that all teacher/student photos be taken in the room following the graduation.  Thank you for you cooperation on this issue.

·         Should I take all of my childs’ diploma, hat, etc. home with me? Yes, please.

·         Should I arrive early? Yes, because you will need to check in and find a seat in the auditorium.

Sharks

Today we were learning all about sharks.  We made a shark head and wrote some facts that we know or learned about sharks.
We have lots of fans of nonfiction in our class.  I would love for them to continue to learn more this summer.  Check out this link below.
Here is a link to the library page on RCE website.  You can look at lots of nonfiction books and it even has a listen feature if the book is too hard.

News to Know!

Please come THIS Tuesday and Thursday if you are interested in helping make our graduation caps.  Meet at 10:00 in room 220 (Timmreck’s room).  There are jobs to do at school and jobs you can take home, but come at 10:00 to get trained J

Mark your calendar for our Kindergarten Graduation!  This will take place at 9:00 on Friday, May 29.  This special event will be in the WAIS auditorium.  You can reach this spot through the RCE cafeteria.  Of course, you will need to check in at the office first.  Pleases send your child to school on graduation day in a Rummel Creek shirt.  Their graduation cap will be blue, so if you don’t have a RCE shirt, wear our school colors (orange and blue). Girls can’t have a fancy up do hair style or their hat won’t fit. After graduation, each class will enjoy a cookie/juice snack.  We hope you can join us for this special moment.

Please return all library books and home readers.  We are returning all of these items for our end of the year procedures.  We continue to do all end of the year testing in math and language arts.  At home, continue to read with your child- to them and with them.  Give them opportunities to write- lots of paper and supplies available will keep them motivated.  Continue to review all sight words.  This is the key to reading fluency.

This Tuesday from lunch until dismissal, the kinder teachers will be planning with Nancy.  Each classroom will have a sub.  It is important to have all dismissal changes in place by Tuesday morning.  We will be away from email that afternoon.

Important Dates:
Monday, May 18- RCE spirit night at Caliente (Dine in or order out).  Tell them you are from RCE and a portion of your total goes to our PTA!

Grit

I gave a math puzzle for morning work just to see who could do it.  Some worked really hard and showed lots of grit, others needed a bit of help.  They were able to use the 100's chart also if they needed it.  I gave out tickets to everyone who made an effort which was everyone.  They ALL tried, some figured it out and some did not.  Afterwards, I drew it out on the active board to explain it better and I think most of them understood.  It was fun to see who could figure it out, and amazing to see how far they have all come!!

10 Take Away

Today in math we used our playing cards to draw a number, cross out that many on a ten frame and then write the number sentence.

Teacher Appreciation

Thank you so much for the nice notes, cards and gifts.  The class has been super sweet today so far. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and a Happy Mother's Day!!
