Week of February 23- February 27, 2015

Thanks so much for coming to the school to support the kindergarten square dance. The kids did a great job and loved having you for their audience!

If you would like to purchase a dedication ad in the yearbook, the deadline to do so is THIS Friday.  Visit www.balfour.com, enter our school name, create an account, and finally click on create an ad.  It is easy and costs 15.00.

                              

Theme: Texas, cowboys and the rodeo

Reading:  Shared reading and interactive read-alouds about Texas. We are focusing on predicting events and comprehension.

Writing:  We are writing this week about Texas, cowboys and the rodeo.

Word Study: ELL Word Family 

Math: Review identifying coins by name and as a challenge, by amounts, Problem Solving, and Combinations of Numbers For example 4 is (3+1, 1+3, 2+2, 4+0, 0+4.  We will explore whole/part relationships (equal parts make 1 whole)

Science: Earthworms and how they help our soil!

Social Studies:  Our Great State:  Texas!

Homework: Read 20 minutes every night.

Optional Activities:

• Monday: Visit www.raz-kids.com
• Tuesday:  Make a list of 10 “ELL” words.
• Wednesday:   Write three sentences about the great state of TEXAS!!

• Thursday:  Grab a handful of coins, sort them, and label them by name.  Can you tell what each coin is worth?
• Friday:  Pack up your library books and practice your home reader!
