Week of Oct. 17-21, 2016

Thank you to everyone who joined us on the field trip to Dewberry Farms!  The kids had a ball and we really appreciate your help.
Reminders for this week:
Keep sending your library reading logs each Monday. There is still time….so keep reading.
October 20th and 21st are noon dismissal days for conferences.  We will eat lunch at school, but there will be sack lunches ONLY for those days.  We will also eat lunch earlier on those days.
A reminder for your conference will be coming soon.  If you don’t get a reminder and you’ve forgotten when we meet, send me an email and I’ll check for you.  Conferences are on a tight schedule this year. Please arrive on time so we can talk for a full 30 minutes without running into the next time slot.
Jacob Baker, a third grade student, is collecting socks for the homeless in Houston.  Jacob would like to collect 1000 pair of adult socks.  We’ll be collecting NEW socks until October 31st.  Drop off in the library.  View Jacob’s slide show for more information. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1LPoXhpy_rAQwQ6cQHDBMaBcbvTdv1BIrtMGwPjzjjH0/edit?usp=sharing

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

We have read some different versions of the Three Bears this week.  Yesterday we read James Marshall's version and then discussed the beginning, middle, end, events, climax and solution of the story.

In Science, we are learning about matter.  Today we were learning about mass/weight.  We used the balance scale to measure the weight of some things around our classroom.
