Field Trip reminders:

Send a sack lunch and a drink in a large
ziplock labeled with your child’s name for the field trip. We’ll have a
snack when we return to RCE.
·
Have your child wear a Rummel Creek
t-shirt and tennis shoes to school. No RCE shirt? A blue or orange
shirt will work just fine!
This
week we will explore the following:
Theme: Writer’s
Workshop launch and all things Fall.
Reading and Writing: Writer’s workshop will kick off
this week. We’ll explore the elements of a story, discuss what writers
and illustrators do, and begin writing our own books.

Word Study: We will focus on the letter sounds of
F and D.
Math: Number sense work continues. We will make
sets, count, and practice identifying and writing numbers to 10. We’ll
also continue collecting and graphing data with some fun fall
activities.
Science: We will review the 3 states of matter and sort
matter by its state.
Social Studies: Our work with US symbols
continues.
Homework: Read 20 minutes every night.
Optional Activities:

Monday: Make a list of things that start
with F & D
·
Tuesday: Practice writing numbers from 0-20
·
Wednesday: Do an act of kindness for someone in
your family.
·
Thursday: Look around your house for solids,
liquids and gases. See if you can find 3 of each state of matter.
·
Friday: Bring back your library books, reading
log, and home reader bag!
