Kindergarten News
Week of March 20- March 24, 2017

Now that Spring Break is over, the rest of the school year will fly by quickly!  We hope everyone had a good break.  There is much left to learn in these last nine weeks of school!

Please return any pictures or picture money ASAP.  We must return unpurchased pictures to the photographer.

If you haven’t done so, please sign and return your child’s report card envelope. 

Tuesday, March 21st – Spirit Night at Fuddruckers  Stop by for dinner, turn your receipt in, and RCE will receive a percentage of your purchase.  Feed your family, help out your school!


Theme: Living Things and Plants
Reading:  Shared reading and interactive read-alouds about plants and their needs, with focus on the elements of non-fiction writing.

Writing:  We’ll apply what we learn about non-fiction writing as we write about plants.

Word Study:  We will look digraphs ch, th, sh, and wh
 
Math: This week, we will review combining sets to make sums up to 10.  We’ll also write number stories to practice our problem solving.

Science: Science and Language Arts will be integrated this week as we continue our study of plants.

Social Studies:  We’ll continue to explore ways to earn, save and spend money.

Homework: Read 20 minutes every night.
Optional Activities:
  • Monday: Write 5 sentences about what you did on Spring Break and draw a picture to illustrate it.
  • Tuesday:  Make a list of words that have ch, sh, th, or wh.  Try to find at least 3 of each!
  • Wednesday:   Practice your sight words.  Make flash cards with words you do not know.
  • Thursday:  Write a math story using two numbers that can be combined to make nine. (Ex: 2 plants bloomed in the garden. Then 7 more bloomed. How many were blooming altogether?)
  • Friday:  Pack up your library books and practice your home reader!
