Day of School! You should have received a letter this week about the 100th
day. We can’t wait to see the creative shirts for the parade!

Theme: Winter, Snow, and cold weather
Reading: This week we will continue to enjoy stories about
winter and cold weather. We are working to improve our retelling by including
important details from the beginning, middle and end of the story.
Writing: The children continue to make books and develop
their writing as they learn to make letter/sound connections and develop their
own ideas or writing. This week we are focusing on using illustrations to help
tell the story.

Word Study: -IP and –IN Word Family
Math: During math workshop, we will continue to emphasize
numeracy and problem solving to 20. Our work to form number sentences with real
problems we can act out in class continues as well.
Science: Weather work continues as we look at the weather
experienced in each season.
Social Studies: We will be reading about and discussing
jobs that we do at home.
Homework:
Read 20 minutes every night.
Optional Activities:

Monday: Go on a
word hunt around your house. Make a list of words you find in the -IP and
-IN word families.
·
Tuesday: Roll 2
dice. Write an addition sentence for the numbers shown. Practice
counting on from the highest dice to find the sum.
·
Wednesday:
Write a sentence that uses quotation marks. Don’t forget to use a comma,
too!
·
Thursday: Find
out what the weather will be tomorrow. You can watch on TV, look at an
app, or check the internet.
·
Friday:
Pack up your library books and/or home readers to return to school!
