What if We Had Animal Teeth?
We read What if We Had Animal Teeth? and then we wrote about what kind we would have and then made face with animal teeth.
In Math today we practiced doing things for 100 seconds. We sat like a statue, we stood on one foot, we ran in place and we wrote our names. The picture below is them running in place.

We are so excited
for the upcoming 100th day of school on February 2nd. Keep working on those 100 Day t-shirts….we
are excited to show off at our parade at 8:15. We hope you can join us for the parade.
Thank you for sending
in the cereal boxes. Keep them
coming! We will use them to make our
Valentine’s boxes. If you have lost your
class list, let us know and we can send you another. It is time to make Valentine’s cards!
This morning in the library, the children who participated in the
Cookie Primary Reading Program (back in October) received a book in their
honor. This book is to be enjoyed at
home a week or so, and then returned.
Check out their name in the front of the book!
Today we made a tooth brushing chart.
If the children brush their teeth morning and night (and record it on
their chart!), they can return it next Monday for a magic ticket. Happy tooth brushing! If they didn’t brush this morning, they have
some catching up to do after school. ;)
Theme: Healthy Teeth and Special

improve our reading skills in literacy stations and guided reading groups!

TGIF
I decided we needed to do some art today so we made some hearts to get us in the mood for Valentine's Day. They turned out super cute and are hanging on our classroom windows.
Thank you for sending in those cereal boxes for their Valentines. We have almost enough.

we will be going to the library on Wednesday this week. If you haven’t returned your books, send them
by tomorrow!

Attached is a separate letter in regards to this special day! Stay tuned for details on our 100 day parade
which will take place on that same day, as well.
Our new school

Theme: Winter, Snow, and cold

Reading: This week we will continue
to enjoy stories about winter and cold weather. We continue to practice
re-telling the stories we read because our reading assessment scores require
that a student not only reads but can accurately retell/recall what he has read.
Writing: The children continue to make books and develop their writing as
they learn to make letter/sound connections and develop their own ideas or
writing. This week we are focusing on using illustrations to help tell the
story. Specifically, we are focusing on illustrations in non-fiction text.

1st Week
It has been a fun first week in our new classroom and school. We have learned our routines and gotten busy. We are now doing our lunch count on the active board which has been an adjustment, but the kids LOVE using it. We have been talking about nonfiction in Writer's Workshop and in a few weeks hopefully everyone will give nonfiction writing a try. Today we read Sneezy the Snowman and practiced writing with quotation marks on our melted snowmen. We also had our library orientation so books may come home today. In a couple weeks, we will be back to our normal Monday library day so start finding all those library books. I will be doing reading groups next week so expect to start seeing home reader bags come home next Friday. Have a wonderful weekend!

The 1st Day at Our New School
We had a great day today in our new classroom! This morning we took a LONG tour to find out where everything is. In math, we played a dice roll game and then had some math tub time. We started our new quiet literacy journals after lunch. We discussed temperature in science and completed a page in our weather book. They did a really good job at recess staying off the grass. Hopefully we will be able to get on it sooner than later. We finished the day singing Kyle Happy Birthday and getting a bday treat to take home. They should be exhausted...I know I am.
