Week of August 22th-August
26th
Please remember
to check your child’s folder each night and remove papers daily. It often contains important information, and
it shows your child you value their work.
Each day
please send a water bottle, healthy snack, towel, and daily binder.
Some children
like to have a light sweater in their backpack. The rooms can be chilly. Remember to send
your child in closed toed, rubber soled shoes.
Remember all transportation changes need to be in writing to
your teacher by noon.
Please
complete the PTA Big Form ASAP. This is
your way to order directories, join the PTA, and purchase a yearbook. There will not be a paper form this
year. To access this link, go to www.rcepta.com
This is a great webpage to frequent…it has a
lot of useful information.
This week we have
explored the following:
Theme: All About Me!
Reading: Shared reading and
Interactive read-alouds of books that focus on me, my family, and my
classroom. Our focus will be on making
connections as we enjoy the text.
Writing: We are working on shared writing with King and Queen of
the day. The children complete sentences
that tell us about themselves. Then,
they read the sentences they have composed.
Word Wall
Words: We add our friends’ names to the word wall
with every King and Queen of the Day.
Math: We will continue to lay the groundwork for Math workshop by
setting up math routines. This week, we’ve also been exploring math tubs.
Social
Studies: Discussing and practicing class routines and procedures.
Homework: Read 20 minutes every night.
Optional
Activities:
·
Wednesday: Sort a pile of toys. Count the number of toys in each group.
· Thursday:
Draw a picture of your teacher!
·
Friday: Have mom or dad read a story to you. What part did you like BEST in the story?
