Kindergarten News
Week of February 16- February 19, 2016

On Friday, February 19th at 10:00 AM  all kindergarten classes will be demonstrating their square dancing skills in the gym. Come and enjoy dancing with your little cowboy or cowgirl! Everyone can wear their western clothes to celebrate GO TEXAN DAY at Rummel Creek. (Note: if your cowboy/cowgirl wears boots, please send an extra pair of shoes for playing on the playground later in the day.)

Coming home today is your child’s pledge book and t-shirt for the Boosterthon Fun Run, which will take place next week.  Please go to www.funrun.com and register your child TONIGHT!!  Each child that registers gets a prize tomorrow from the Boosterthon reps.  We are raising funds for the outdoor learning garden/center.  Registering is free!!

Reading:  Recent reading assessments have helped us see where we need to focus in our reading skills as we press toward the end of the year. Keep reading your home readers– they really help!  Also, please send your book bags back each MONDAY.
Writing:  More letter writing, as well as non-fiction writing about Abe Lincoln and George Washington

Math: We continue to work on identifying coins, problem solving, and decomposing numbers to 6.

Social Studies:  Presidents Abraham Lincoln and George Washington, as well as Texas

Homework: Read 20 minutes every night.
Optional Activities:
  • Wednesday:   Write a letter to someone you lovedon’t forget the date, greeting, body, closing, and signature!
  • Thursday:  Find Abe Lincoln on the penny.  Flip your penny 10 times and record using tally marks how many times you got heads and how many times you got tails.
  • Friday:  Pack up your library books and practice your home reader!
